6th Annual "FREE" High Holiday Services-The JIC will again be offering "free" High Holiday Services for the 1st day of Rosh Hashanah (Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008-9:30 AM) and Yom Kippur (Kol Nidre-Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008-7:00 PM/Yom Kippur Day-Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008-9:30 AM). Services will be held at the Emery Weiner School (9825 Stella Link Rd.). Rabbi Howard Siegel will officiate. All who wish to attend must register. To register CLICK HERE or phone 713-663-7600.

"Taste of Judaism"-This is a 4-session weekly course providing interested Jews and non-Jews an overview of Jewish theology, history, and ritual. The topics include: WeekOne-"The Basics of Judaism: God, Torah, & Israel," Week Two-"The Celebrations of Jewish Life," Week Three-"Jewish Rites of Passage: Birth Through Death," and Week Four-"A Gallop Through Jewish History." Registration is now being taken for the October 27, November 3, 10, & 17 course. Classes are held from 7:30-9:00 PM at the MERFISH CENTER, 9000 South Rice (corner of S. Rice & N. 6th Year of "Learning Talmud At Border's" -What are you doing on Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM? How about taking a dip in the "Sea of Talmud (Jewish Law)?" Jewish law confronts everything from Capital punishment to How to Make Rain. There is seldom a dull moment in this learning. What's more, the course is offered free of charge at Border's Bookstore in Meyerland Plaza. The Fall 2008 schedule for the 6th season of Talmud Study is: Sunday mornings August 24, September 7, 14, & 21, October 5, 12, 19, & 26, November 2, 9, 16, & 23, and December 7, 14, 21, & 28. "Basic Judaism: What It's All About" - This is a 17-session course covering everything from "Birth to Death." The course is open to anyone, Jew and non-Jew, wishing to rediscover Judaism, even for the first time! There is No Fee for tuition but contributions are gratefully accepted. JIC Havurah Services - The JIC Havurah holds Shabbat morning services at the Merfish Center (9000 South Rice), 9:30-11:30 AM. Services take place every Shabbat morning. For further information about the Havurah "click" HERE
